| NanoFX GE - Home of the NanoFX Game Engine. |
Welcome to the home of NanoFX Game Engine.
We are a freestanding development team working on a next-gen game engine for use in all types of scifi related games. The head developer NanoByte is working together with other programmers on the project to bring the best space experience yet. As NanoByte originated from the Bridge Commander, it's primary goal however is the creation of a brand new Star Trek themed game and as such NanoByte and the project has merged with Frontier Productions, to bring to you what is called
Project Excalibur
It will be the first game developed on the new engine and will contain a wide range of features, primarily to extend the abilities seen in Bridge Commander, but to a much greater and immersive experience. Other game developers may license the engine upon it's completion for their own projects, but Excalibur will be the first. The project is currently heavy in development, and this site will from time to time get updated pictures and information regarding the progress on the project.
We thank you for your patience, as this project will likely remain in development for quite some time. Until then, feel free to browse our site and post in our forums.

With the realization that the site has been a bit "dead" or inactive as of late, I have decided to post the first picture from the actual game engine for NanoFX (i.e not the model viewer).
Credits go out to:
John (Lost_Jedi)
Mark
SimRex
This picture will show a working "console" for the game engine in a similar style to the one found in Star Trek: Bridge Commander, as well as a few UI elements visible in the background (thou not final). This picture will be the first of what I hope to be many more to come on the path to the 1.0 FINAL build of the engine, and the eventual release of Star Trek: Excalibur. Enjoy!

Hi guys,
as you can see, I have recently become a staff member. Most of you know me by my old name: gamesfunk. But with years advancing, I had a name change and so I will be called Lithium.
Anyhow, why am I being a Staff Member? Because I am the new manual writer of NanoFX-GE Model Viewer. I need to coordinate with FAR to keep the manual up-to-date in a professional way.
I have already updated the manual, so for the one who want to see it, the link to it is here: Download NanoFX-GE MV Readme (v1.0)
Hope you'll be liking it,
Lithium

I wish I could say that the huge delay in updating the Model Viewer was because I was working on something stellar to surprise you guys, but alas, it has just been due to me being so busy (I am selling my Condo and buying a house!)
At any rate, an update has finally arrived which includes AtmosphereFX for Planets, HDR lighting and Enhanced Glows. It is possible to script the size of planets and ships now.
Unfortunately, there is NO UPDATED Documentation. It was actually one of the things holding up a release of this version believe it or not! But I decided to release anyways, you guys can ask questions on the new features if need be, I am still looking for a volunteer to maintain and update the documentation as new features are added, so if a current BETA tester does not volunteer, then someone else can join the BETA tester team and get pre-release updates so that documentation can be updated before release to the public!
As I said before, please use the forums to ask any questions on the new features if you can't figure them out, hopefully documentation will be updated soon, please enjoy this release and report any bugs found!
Next steps are to organize the programming team so we can start working together and start sharing source code to integrate the things we have been working on. There will be major changes coming in the next couple of months, stay tuned for exciting developments!
Please get the new veiwer in the Download Section

Greetings to all our visitors.
I know that the site has been quite inactive as of late, with the appearance that the project is dead. I want to assure you, that is definitely not the case. A lot of things are happening "behind the scenes" that are not made known to the general public at large. Rest assured, development is still moving forward strong and that there will be a few surprises in store for the near future.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have opened up the download section for anyone to submit new ship/stations, which will have to be approved by myself or another admin before becoming visible on the site. I encourage all to try out porting a ship into the model viewer, and making more ships available to all our visitors. We also have a fully equipped gallery on the site, so keep uploading new images =)
I have included a couple of desktop-sized images, as well as a preview of coding being used for the engine. Enjoy.

According to future Star Trek history, on April 5th 2063 First Contact will be made between Humanity and the first alien race we'll come to know as the Vulcans. How has your First Contact day been?
